Asalha Puja on 1 Aug 2023

Asalha puja also called Dhamma day. It takes place on the full moon day of the eighth lunar month Ashar which generally falls in July. This year it is on 1 Aug 2023. Asalha Puja is a Theravada Buddhist festival and is celebrated in Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Indonesia and Myanmar. On this day people go round the temple holding candles in their hands. On this day, Buddha gave his first sermon the " sermon in deer park " at Sarnath after his enlightenment. The first sermon is also referred to as " setting into motion the wheel of dhamma", for the benefit, happiness, and liberation of countless beings.                                                                                                           Keep Meditating

Be A Meditator- To reach equanimity, practice "Ana-Pana-sati"

One form of meditation is to observe your breath. "Ana-Pana-Sati". A lot of people practice this form of meditation, yet they don't feel calm. They easily get perturbed by the ups and downs of life.  Understanding meditation could mean knowing well what leads you forward and what holds you back. keep dwelling over it again and again. Use this knowledge for reaching the path that leads to equanimity (calmness and composure especially in a difficult situation).                                                                                                                                                   Keep Meditating

Be A Meditator- Bloom from within first, like a flower

Just think. A flower blooming in the desert proves to the world that adversity, no matter how great, can be overcome. Also, roses do not bloom hurriedly, but it takes time to blossom like any beautiful masterpiece. In the same way before revealing our beauty to the world, connect with our breath regularly.                                                                                        Keep Meditating

Four types of Lotus in Buddism

The lotus flower is invested with profound significance in Buddhism. It is thought to be the only plant that simultaneously produces both flower ( cause) and seed pod ( effect). this unique trait is used to indicate the Buddhist principle of simultaneity of cause and effect.                                                                                         Four types of lotus have great significance in Buddhism. They represent different levels of spirituality.    1- WHITE LOTUS--The white lotus represents mental purity and spiritual perfection.                                  2-  RED LOTUS-- The red lotus is the symbol of love and compassion.                                                        3- BLUE LOTUS--The blue lotus represents wisdom and intelligence and is always pictured partially open.                                                                                                                                                                    GOLD LOTUS-- A gold

Be A Meditator- Living each moment completely

We have come across phrases like, "I have to do it now!", "Now or never". Such phrases are indicative of the present moment. What happens when a realisation takes place that I have to do it now? We suddenly leave everything and get charged to take action. Like the lion in the infographic is coming charging to jump across to the other cliff. He is not thinking about whether he will be able to jump across or not. He is living each moment completely. Meditation trains us to live in the present moment completely. When we start living in the present moment, the quality of life changes.                                                                                                                                                  Keep Meditating

Be A Meditator-Magic is waiting to happen

Magic is when something unexpected happens. sometimes we get stuck in a situation, where all ends appear to be closed. But if we trust our intuition or listen to our inner voice. suddenly all problems become solutions. Regular meditation can make our senses sharper.                                                                                                                                              Keep Meditating

Listen To The Voice within

Master Zen Doga says, do not follow blindly the idea of others. But learn to listen to the voice within yourself. Meditate to recognise the voice within yourself.                                                             Keep Meditating

Be A Meditator- Breath is your soul doctor

Breathing is the most essential feature of our life. If we are breathing we are alive for sure. The three segments of breathing act as follows. Inhalation gives strength and a controlled body; retention gives steadiness of mind, exhalation purifies body and spirit. So to say breath is our body and soul doctor. Practice breathing slowly and comfortably. Observe your breath regularly.                                                                                                                   Keep Meditating

When we reach harmony within, we can create harmony with others .

When we begin our meditational journey, we begin to uncover all the disharmonies within ourselves. But as we continue and try to understand the causes of disharmony deeply, not giving in, to blame, not giving into resignation, but focusing intensely on understanding, we begin to notice how the disharmonies are converting into harmony. With deep understanding, when we change ourselves, we start to harmonise with the world and universe.                                                                                                                                                                                                         Keep Meditating

Be A Meditator- Connect with your breath daily

Connecting with our breath daily, pumps so much love into our hearts, that our family and friends too, respond with the same love, sometimes more love than we can imagine. Even people who do not agree with our ideas also appreciate us for the amount of love we can emit.                                                                  Keep Meditating

Under The Layers of I, My, Mine, there is Me-ditation

Most people are most of the time talking about themselves( I) or talking about their possessions ( MY-MINE). But most of us trust authentic and compassionate people. One becomes authentic when they see themselves as they are and accept themselves as they are. Meditation brings about this change. Meditation has an inbuilt word ME. Hail to meditation. every moment of every day                                                                Keep Meditating

Presence is the greatest Gift one can give to another Person

Be it a child, a partner, or a friend, giving a person unconditional presence is a gift of immense value to social beings like humans. Give attention to a child and the child will immediately blossom. But in order to be present with others, we have to be present with ourselves. It is possible to be present when everything is going well, but the challenge is to be present through the thick and thin of relationships. This requires practice, it requires the ability to treat thoughts as such - temporary influences on the canvas of consciousness. When we become meditative, we operate from a deeper place and thus gain the steadiness to share our presence with others.                                                                     Keep Meditating

Kids have no inhibition or defences. They are pure, kind, and fearless. They view the world with curiosity, admiration, and freedom. Just be a kid again and flow with our natural breath.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Keep Meditating                                'Be a kid again day' is celebrated on 8 July in some parts of the world. On this day adults take a break from being an adult and act like a kid again.  So do that.

Meditation Under A Tree

Most of us have a strong longing and need for peace in the body, mind, and heart. When we sit in the lap of grandmother tree. She is ready to receive us and offer rest and peace.                                                           Trees symbolise wisdom, stability, shelter, growth and the process of renewable. Trees set a beautiful example of gracefully weathering different seasons, including high wind, heavy rain, frost, extreme heat and drought.  When we Meditate under A tree, all these qualities imbibe in us unknowingly.                                                                                            Keep Meditating

When Feeling Anxious connect with Tree

Many times when we are feeling anxious, we don't know what to do, we are just fretting here and there. one way to calm down is to place our hand on a tree trunk and breath with it. It will bring us back to the present moment. Trees are elders of our planet. Gentle, silent, and in the moment.                                                                                                           Keep Meditating
